Site Investigation

Phase II of a Geo-Environmental Assessment

A second phase of assessment may be required, where it has not been possible through the desk study to discount a potential current or future hazard being present, and to provide geotechnical information for use in design and construction. However, a good desk study will ensure that any further site assessment focuses on the relevant issues only and is therefore cost-effective.

Where there may be a risk to the quality of the land, soil samples will be taken and if necessary, drilling rigs will be used to install standpipes to monitor and measure gases and obtain groundwater samples.  Appropriate samples will also be collected to allow geotechnical design parameters to be characterised.

All samples collected are analysed at a fully accredited laboratory and results are presented in an interpretive report which can be submitted to the local authority, bank/funders or NHBC as required.
